Lab Classes: What they are and why you should care

Have you ever been to a physiotherapist, chiropractor, or trainer, and walked out with a list of rehab exercises (and maybe a little loop band), done them maybe once, and then abandoned them in a drawer?

Maybe you even booked a follow-up appointment for 2-4 weeks later for the same issue, because you have seen little to no improvement (because you didn’t do your homework). Maybe you even lie a little through the shame (although they know the truth - as did your piano teacher and your dentist).

Two years into owning CrushCamp, I can say without hesitation that at least 80% of the injuries and limitations we see in our members are related to weak glutes, tight and weak hamstrings, tight hip flexors, and weak or misaligned core and spine. Why? Because these are the side effects of sitting - which is the reality of the modern professional’s life. These imbalances tend to show up in knee pain, lower back pain, neck and shoulder pain, and even calf, hamstring, and Achilles strains. And for the most part we just deal with it, until it gets really bad, and we seek a “quick fix” - a massage, or needling, or chiropractic adjustment, hoping we can wash our hands and be done.

The reality is, these issues will continue to recur, and get worse as we age, unless we can address the imbalances and fix the movement patterns now - It’s literally the difference between being a hunched old lady with a walker or the granny who beats her grandkids up Ha Ling Peak.

This is where Lab Classes come in. We created the 4 Lab Classes: Glute Lab, Hips and Hammies Lab, Ab + Arms Lab, and Rescue Lab - to help teach good form, address imbalances, and ensure that as we get stronger, we are emphasizing good movement and alignment, instead of poor. Each 50 minute class will include a mix of Mobility, Activation, Strength, and Stretch - all designed to keep you feeling and performing your best. Think of it like group physio - at a fraction of the cost.

Monday - Glute Lab - 5:30pm with Heather
Tuesday - Arm + Ab Lab - 6:30pm with Heather
Wednesday - Hips + Hammies Lab - 5:30pm with Jay
Thursday - Rescue Lab (Full Body + Animal Flow) - 6:30pm with Jay
