Meet Lara: Finding consistency and community through a health scare
Lara is one of those lovely humans who brightens any room she comes in to - she joined CrushCamp as a referral by our friend and member Nasim in July 2018, and quickly went from barely jogging to sprinting at double digits! She was a fan favourite in our last Wolf Pact Challenge, snapping photos with her “favourite team member” (see the attached photo - haha!) and cheering EVERYONE on in our Wolf Pack Community Chat, but really what inspires us is her tenacity and resiliency - even after a major health scare and surgery in the spring of 2019, she came back stronger than ever, with her trademark smile!
We are so proud of you and your journey Lara! Keep on crushing it!
What made you decide to start CrushCamp?
I was looking for a place to motivate me to do better things for myself
What changes have you noticed since joining CrushCamp?
CrushCamp changed my life. I was so lazy to work out. Once I started going to CrushCamp I couldn’t imagine that I would get addicted to that - I was planning to join 1-2 times a week, but I noticed I am singing up for the day after right away. The reason was I could see once I leave there I turn to a happy, strong and energized person which helps me to have better day (sic)
What is one goal you are proud of Crushing?
Before, I couldn’t sprint more than 6m/hr!!!! My last PB for sprint was 12.8m/hr... you can see the improvement!
What is one goal you are currently working on?
Running for 6 mins with 6m/hr consistent
What is your favourite pump-up song?
I love all of them!
What is your favourite (or least favourite!) exercise?
It’s hard to say because at CrushCamp you see all great varieties. You cannot even feel time pass!
What would you tell to someone thinking about trying CrushCamp for the first time?
All of my story! The first time I came to CrushCamp I could see it’s a totally different place. I’ve been to group classes at my regular gym and they just aren’t motivating, I told my friend after CrushCamp all these classes look so basic and aren’t challenging enough!
