Becoming be clothing co.

I’ve always been a big believer in the power of words, and the profound effect they can have on someone’s life. From the day my kids were born words of affirmation were poured over them. You are loved. You are smart. You are brave. You are kind. You are going to change this world and mountains will move in your wake.

To this day, I still say these words every single night before they go bed and throughout the day as a reminder. Because some day someone will tell them otherwise, and I want these words to be so imbedded in their hearts that they will refuse to believe those lies.

As my girls hit ages 6 and 9 I realized that there was shift in the way kids started interacting at school; cliques started forming, teasing and bullying was present, differences that were once not noticed, were now pointed out and words of hurt were being used as ammunition.

I wanted to impact this age group in a way that was tangible and remind them that they are loved. That they matter. And that this world needs them.

I also learned that finding clothing for this age group was tricky. It went from unicorn graphic tees to teeny tiny crop tops and neither of those were going to work. Why was there so little offered to this age group? I started thinking, “what if could create closet staples like hoodies and crewnecks and t-shirts that would fit every style and also bring powerful messaging to them?” From that simple question came the beginnings of Be Clothing Co.

Be Clothing Co is an apparel line of simple every day closet staples with positive messages to impact our world. We believe in the power of words. We are cultivating a culture and community of youth who lift themselves up by lifting each other. We believe that recognizing the light in ourselves honours the light in others. Through simple words of affirmation we can create a better future.

This journey of entrepreneurship continues to evolve, 2 months after I launched, COVID hit and created challenges to introduce the brand. I was thrown into home schooling, the world shut down, and as we all know life changed for everyone. Throughout the last 2 years since bringing this dream to life a lot has happened. I can proudly say that although there have been times where I’ve had to place the brand on the back burner of priorities in order to be there for my family during this pandemic, this has not stopped the community of Be Clothing from growing. You can now find the brand in 2 store fronts, at pop up markets throughout the year, and we will be offering adult sizing which will be ready for Christmas!!

This has been a wild ride to say the least, but I am so incredibly proud of the goal I set to start my own clothing line and to see it come to life and impacting lives. Here’s to goals and believing in them xo - Krista Ziemann.
